Are Credit Union Right For Me

Credit union provides same type of products, services and credit union solutions as other banks offers. Its focus is to provide financial need to their members instead of making any profit. If you are joining a credit union, there are many points to take in consideration. You should always remember that credit unions are taking care of your financial needs or not. Here's what you can expect from a credit union:

Joining a Credit Union
All Credit union are owned and operated by members. When you join a credit union and opening an account or taking any loan from it, you are eligible to become a member. Most of the credit union allows anyone to become a member in city or country. If you are eligible to join credit union, then call local credit unions to find out.

Locations
Credit unions have limited branch networks as compare to national banks branches. Credit union offer many services like online banking service, Account Opening System and 24 hours customer service to help in financial issues. But if you travel a lot, you may need a physical branch location. If you make frequent cash deposits, or need branch services but travel a lot, you would fare better at a national bank with many branch locations.

Interest Rates
Credit union offers higher interest rates for deposits or savings and lower interest rates on loans as compare to other banks interest rates services. It means credit union is not-for-profit.

Deposit Insurance
National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) does not give any insurance to protect deposited funds. Deposits maintained in credit union are not protected by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).  Like the FDIC, the NCUA enjoys federal backing and provides the same level of coverage as the FDIC.
